Q. What are the differences between the A+dvancer™ and the college placement tests? |
A. Most college placement tests provide only a single score indicating a specific level at which a student demonstrates proficiency for a particular subject area such as Arithmetic, Elementary Algebra, Reading Comprehension, Sentence Skills, etc. Institutions establish cut-scores that new students must meet in order to be placed in various levels of coursework. A+dvancer tests are designed to assess similar proficiencies and provide prescriptive feedback identifying the specific skills for which a student needs instruction. A+dvancer then prescribes and delivers, online, the appropriate refresher instruction. |
Q. I have already taken a placement test. Do I still have to take the A+dvancer test to get an online coursework prescription? |
A. Yes. For the A+dvancer system to automatically prescribe developmental coursework, students must take the appropriate A+dvancer assessment. |
Q. Can individual students subscribe to A+dvancer? |
A. No. At this time, only educational institutions may subscribe directly to the A+dvancer program. |
Q. How do I contact A+dvancer technical support? |
A. The A+dvancer technical support team is available to instructors and lab administrators by telephone at 1-800-248-0757, Monday through Friday from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. Central Time. Other contact methods include email and fax. Students with questions or needing support should contact their lab administrator or instructor. |
Q. Where do I obtain documentation such as user manuals, quick reference guides, etc. for A+dvancer? |
A. Following login, registered users of A+dvancer may download user guides and other documentation from within the A+dvancer program. |
Q. Do an institution's unused A+dvancer units expire? |
A. Unused A+dvancer units expire after two years. |
Q. How long does a student have to complete coursework prescribed by the A+dvancer program? |
A. Students will have 90 days unlimited access to unmastered A+dvancer coursework from the date the lessons are assigned. |
